Wells Fargo is dealing with a brand new class motion lawsuit over the financial institution’s alleged failure to correctly safe prospects’ personally identifiable data.
The lawsuit, filed by lead plaintiff Tamra Bacon, alleges Wells Fargo has suffered a “preventable hack” that has uncovered hundreds of shoppers’ knowledge.
Wells Fargo confirmed a breach final month, stating an insider on the financial institution accessed and used prospects’ data to perpetrate fraud between Could of 2022 and March of 2023.
In letter despatched to prospects posted on the Workplace of the Vermont Legal professional Common’s web site, Wells Fargo says the stolen knowledge consists of names, addresses, dates of start, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, social safety numbers, driver’s license numbers, checking account numbers, credit score/debit card numbers, brokerage account numbers and mortgage/line of credit score numbers.
Bacon says the incident has positioned her in monetary turmoil.

Wells Fargo has not publicly commented on the breach, which Bacon claims was as a consequence of lax safety at America’s third-largest financial institution.
